Our philosophy : "Let each one teach one."
We are a team of Parent Advocates available to assist the biological parents in any way possible. We bridge the gap between the biological parent, social worker, foster parent and Administration for Children Services. Parents need to know that someone cares what happens to them, as well as their children. Because this department is composed of birth parents that have been through similar experiences - trust is not an issue, and we are nonjudgmental.
We try to provide the services necessary to help the parent(s) get on their feet, by helping them to help themselves.
If they can’t help themselves, how can they help their children?
Our Mission
To assist the biological parents of children in our care to satisfy the mandated requirements for a successful reunification with their children. We provide training, and ongoing supportive services, utilizing personnel with similar situations and experiences, who are able to understand and empathize with them.
Parent-To-Parent program services :
Alcohol and Drug Program Referrals
Parents are escorted to drug and alcohol rehab programs where the advocates remain with them throughout the intake and admission processes.
Support Groups
We offer a safe place for biological parents to meet in a group forum and share their concerns and receive feedback from their peers and social workers.
Parenting Skills Class
We provide a thirteen-week cycle of classes to teach parents basic parenting, budgeting, listening, responding, coping skills, and decision-making.
Public Assistance Help
We assist parents in the application process. Also, if parents are facing an eviction, we escort them to the appropriate places for assistance.
