Our Mission
It is the mission of the Preparing Youth for Adulthood department (PYA) to assist foster care adolescents in achieving high standards of life skills in order to live productive, self-sufficient lives. We believe that each youth is capable of such success and that each youth should be afforded the opportunity to achieve their goals and dreams. We are child developers concerned with the growth of each youth’s emotional, intellectual and social being.
It is our duty to ensure that the youth receiving our services become active, responsible, contributing members of their community.
Where are we now?
Currently, our PYA is designed for adolescents, ages 14-21, who are participating in our Foster Care and Adoption programs. Some of the life skills’ workshops we provide for our youth are :
- Money Management
- Job Seeking Skills
- Job Maintenance Skills
- Housekeeping Skills
- Apartment Hunting
- Interpersonal Skills
We also provide casework counseling, pregnancy prevention counseling, educational referral services, AND exciting educational and cultural excursions in and out of State!
